Announcing Real Estate Therapy, The Podcast

I’m thrilled (and relieved) to finally announce the launch of the best “waste of a perfectly good hour” since NPR’s Car Talk, debuting Thursday, March 14 on YouTube and most podcasting platforms near you. Check out the trailer here!

Real Estate Therapy has been years in the making. (Three decades, in fact, because that’s how long I’ve been thinking and writing about it.) It springs from my blog by the same name where, since 2014, readers like you have enjoyed oblique perspectives on the heart, soul and funny business of real estate.

As you know, I’m the owner and founder of Kindred SF Homes, but I’m definitely not a licensed therapist! Yet, the RET show may reveal more about our human condition than years of professional counseling, a doctorate in philosophy, or yet another viewing of Glengarry Glen Ross.

So, stop your mindless Zillow scrolling and predictable HGTV watching and tune in to learn why everything to do with real estate springs from the fundamental human need for sanctuary and belonging.

You’ll learn why:

  • The American dream is exactly and only that – a dream, not a reality.

  • Nobody will ever love you as unconditionally as your real estate agent.

  • The main obstacle to your life’s progress is all the stuff you’ve accumulated.

  • You can’t go home again except by making your kitchen your home’s true hearth.

  • Buyers truly are liars.

  • Sellers often choose (the wrong) agent for all the wrong reasons.

  • Nobody – not even an experienced Realtor – can accurately predict the value of a home.

  • Women are particularly well suited to the agent job.

  • Restaurant work is perhaps the best experience for success as a Realtor.

  • The first obstacle to a home purchase is – literally – opening the front door! (I bet you didn’t know that agents, understandably, break out in hives whenever encountering a new lock for the first time.)

With entertaining guests, refreshing no-nonsense tips, funny insider stories and a heaping helping of Zen-ish philosophy, Real Estate Therapy shows – at its best – how real estate can be a path to both financial reward and a more meaningful life.

At the very least, it puts the “real” back in real estate and can give you something to laugh about. Check it out, after March 14th. Click here to subscribe wherever you get your podcasts!
